THE NEED IS REAL
New Jersey needs more addiction counselors.
More than 1 in 10 New Jersey residents will struggle with a substance use disorder at some point in their life. That's a neighbor, a family member, a friend.
But there aren't enough trained professionals to help them.
Right now, addiction treatment agencies across Passaic County are understaffed. People who need support can't always get it quickly enough. And too often, that gap costs lives.
The Rise Passaic Fellowship was created to close that gap — by training the next generation of addiction counselors right here in our own community.
ABOUT THE FIELD
What does an addiction counselor actually do?
Addiction counselors work with people who are struggling with substance use — alcohol, opioids, or other drugs — and help them take steps toward recovery. It's relationship-based, meaningful work.
