The purpose of this training is to provide substance use disorder (SUD) clinical supervisors with specialized training in developmental models of clinical supervision. Specific attention will be given to the integrative development model (IDM). The IDM is especially suited for clinical supervision within the SUD workforce. As outlined in the model, clinical supervisors will learn to identify a supervisee’s developmental level and understand the characteristics, supervision skills, developmental needs, and techniques associated with the model. Adhering to the IDM, SUD clinical supervisors can explore the relationship between motivation, cognitive process, and learning of the supervisee. SUD supervisors will be able to discover and apply theoretical underpinnings of the IDM by actively engaging in the six thinking hats, an immersive learning experience. Skills learned can be readily transferred into the SUD workforce supporting the sustainability and efficacy of the SUD clinical supervisor.
