In this webinar participants will learn the definition of wellness and it’s dimensions. Specifically they will gain an understanding of the concept of wellness and identify the eight dimensions of wellness (emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical, environmental, financial, occupational, and social). This webinar discusses mental health disorders and their impact. Several common mental health disorders that co-occur with SUD are discussed such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The webinar presenter discusses the effects of these mental health disorders on daily life, including work, relationships, and physical health. During this webinar, mental health stigma, and SUD stigma is discussed. The discussion includes promoting awareness of co-occurring disorders and the impact of mental health stigma. Participants in the webinar will learn strategies to break the stigma by fostering empathy, support, and open dialogue. During the webinar, practical strategies for maintaining mental health are taught.

During the webinar, practical strategies for maintaining mental health are taught. Participants are provided a handout and the presenter teaches practical tools for self-care, mindfulness, setting boundaries, and practicing self-compassion to maintain mental health and well-being. Finally participants will learn the important of supporting others in their mental health journey. Skills such as being a good listener, encouraging help-seeking, and creating a safe and supportive environment are discussed. Overall this webinar provides guidance from a personal and professional viewpoint as to how to educate, support, promote awareness, and engage in self care as it relates to mental health and SUD.
