1-Day Extended: What are the updates? Understanding the ASAM Criteria 4th Edition and Applying to Clinical Cases

Two Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation ASAM subject-matter experts will deliver a one-day (8 hour) training to ensure that New Jersey substance use treatment professionals have a thorough understanding of and practice applying The ASAM Criteria, Fourth Edition.

About the Training

Who should attend:

  • To qualify for this training, you must be working for a DMHAS-licensed substance abuse treatment facility and hold an LCADC or CADC.

Objectives:  

  1. Explain ASAM’s guiding principles and goals for developing the Fourth Edition.  

  2. Interpret the changes from The ASAM Criteria Third Edition to the Fourth Edition and their potential impact on clinical care quality, ease of workflow, and approval rates for New Jersey providers.  

  3. Enhance clinical skills by instilling a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of The ASAM Criteria Fourth Edition, including updated Assessment Standards, Dimensions, Subdimensions, Risk Ratings, Continuum of Care, and Dimensional Admission Criteria.  

  4. Explore how to implement and operationalize The ASAM Criteria in clinical practice with real world scenarios to give learners an opportunity to apply The ASAM Criteria Fourth Edition assessment standards, risk ratings, and decision rules to develop level of care recommendations.

Renewal Credit Information

To qualify for training and DMHAS scholarship, applicants must:

  • Hold one of the following credentials: LCADC or CADC

  • Be working in a DMHAS-licensed SUD treatment agency

  • Have the ability to focus & engage in entire virtual course as if time-off taken for an "in-person" training. This means you have access to a smart device or computer with access to internet, a camera, and microphone that can support zoom virtual platform.
