About the Training

This workshop will explore the changes in ASAM 4.0 regarding dimensions, placement criteria ,  levels of care indicators, standards of care including treatment of co-occurring disorders and the  availability of medications , and the role of harm reduction in providing effective client care based on best practices.

Participants will learn of changes in the process of evaluating clients for the appropriate level of care, expanded expectations for best practices/capacities  within each level of care and its subdivisions, and the process by which recommendations can be adequately evaluated to assure proper placement.

Information will be shared via lecture, corresponding resources, and experiential exercises in the form of small group work on case studies.

 

OBJECTIVES:

1)      Explain changes to ASAM Dimensions as they relate to client placement in the appropriate level of care

2)      Provide information on changes to standards of care including capacities for treating co-occurring populations, providing for access to medications when required, the medical stabilization services/requirements, and the integration of harm reduction services/approaches

3)      Examine Levels of Care (changes) , and examine the standards of care within each subgroup

4)      Educate/ demonstrate on the use of Assessment tools/Dimension Drivers in helping with the evaluation / placement process
