Quinn Ingemi is a master’s prepared licensed professional counselor (LPC) in New Jersey with over 25 years of experience working with diverse populations in various settings and roles ranging from clinician, educator, supervisor, and program manager/coordinator. She has worked in the field of perinatal substance use since 2011 at the Southern New Jersey Perinatal Cooperative where she coordinates the Perinatal Addictions Prevention Project, providing education, resources, and assisting healthcare and behavioral healthcare providers to incorporate risk reductions practices. Additionally, Ms. Ingemi is the program coordinator for Project Embrace/Maternal Wraparound, a case-management/recovery support program for pregnant women with opioid use disorder, funded through the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services. Ms. Ingemi has been a member of the New Jersey Maternal Mortality Case Review Team since 2016 and in 2019 joined the Camden Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) Team.

Perinatal Substance Use: An Overview of Opioid Use During Pregnancy

This presentation will cover risks associated with prenatal opioid use along with current best practices in treating opioid use disorder in pregnant women. Attendees will learn about key issues such as neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NOWS), breastfeeding while on medication assisted treatment, child welfare, and support resources currently available in New Jersey.
