Prevention Resource Center

Research NJPN subcontracts with its member agencies to provide a resource center in each of the 21 counties.

The resource centers are the cornerstone to the New Jersey Prevention Network. Each center’s goal is to provide education, information services, resource materials, and technical assistance on alcohol, tobacco and other drug-related issues to businesses, local coalitions, schools, treatment agencies, criminal justice agencies, legislators and other constituent groups in each county.

Each member agency identifies sites in their county for implementation of the programs. The general public, including school personnel, civic leaders, senior citizens etc. learn of the local member’s activities through public service announcements on radio, cable and in the printed media. Training and consultation are provided at each center on accessing alcohol and other drug information and developing and evaluating prevention and education programs.

The Resource Centers also provide staff for consultation services and technical assistance. The resource centers are designed to encourage visitors to browse through the myriad of available information both on-line and in print.

Each local resource center is open from Monday through Friday, 9 to 5 and evenings and weekend by appointment. Each year, over 600,000 pieces of literature are disseminated on alcohol, tobacco and other drug education, treatment, and prevention to residents of New Jersey.
