Partners In Prevention is located in Hudson County in the center of one of New Jersey’s largest cities, Jersey City. Hudson County itself is the most densely populated county in New Jersey and prides itself on its cultural diversity. We derive much satisfaction in creating and providing alcohol, tobacco and other drug programs that meet the needs of this wonderfully diverse city and its surrounding communities.

At Partners In Prevention, we address substance abuse in individuals, families, schools and others concerned about the impact of addiction in our communities. We serve thousands of individuals from all across Hudson County, providing a citizens’ voice regarding substance abuse policies.

We welcome volunteers to help us with community outreach, office administration, health fairs, and presentations in raising awareness of the damage alcohol, tobacco and other drugs can cause in Hudson County communities. Come and volunteer with our dedicated staff in reaching out to help others.

Partners in Prevention brings the following NJPN programs to Hudson County:

  • Hudson County Prevention Resource Center
  • Childhood Drinking (CD) Coalition
  • Disabilities and Addiction Project
  • Faith-based Initiative
  • Jason’s Message: Prescription and Over-the-Counter Drug Abuse Prevention
  • Supporting New Jersey’s Military Families
  • Take Control of Your Health
  • Wellness Initiative for Senior Education (WISE)

We also provide the following additional programs:

Beginning Alcohol and Addictions Basic Education Studies (BABES)
BABES is a nationally-recognized primary prevention program that teaches important life skills and provides accurate, non-judgmental information about the use and abuse of alcohol and other drugs to children between the ages of five and nine. Research suggests that effective prevention should be focused on building resiliency and reducing risk. BABES accomplishes this through the use of stories and seven life-like puppet characters. Each lesson focuses on a particular concept and skill, which the children learn and practice with the help of a trained professional.

Botvin’s Life Skills Training
Botvin’s Life Skills Training (LST) is a research-validated substance abuse prevention program proven to reduce the risks of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, and violence by targeting the major social and psychological factors that promote the initiation of substance use and other risky behaviors. Partners in Prevention utilizes this program with middle school students throughout the county.

Drug-Free Communities Coalition
The Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Coalition is a group of Hudson County professionals and volunteers working collaboratively to share expertise and experience, maximizing limited resources in order to work creatively to reduce the harmful effects of alcohol and drug use among youth in the community. The coalition advocates for environmental changes and promotes substance abuse education throughout Hudson County.

Footprints for LifeTM
Footprints for Life is a research-based primary prevention program that builds assets and teaches important life skills to students in the second grade.  Through the use of puppets and stories that feature “real life” situations experienced by a children’s soccer team, the program offers many opportunities for students to practice new skills they  learn in a fun and non-threatening way.

Forest Friends
This asset-building program is designed to develop and reinforce resiliency skills in children ages five through nine. In this engaging program, children learn about dealing with feelings and how to communicate effectively, how to make good and healthy decisions, the importance of truth and trust to develop healthy relationships, and effective coping skills to deal with difficult life situations. Lovable puppets are the characters who take center stage as they learn how   to deal emotionally and psychologically with life-like situations.

Keys to Innervisions (KIV)
KIV is an educational curriculum about change, specifically changing the beliefs and behaviors that lead to school and social failure, violence, drug abuse/dependency, and criminal behavior. Partners in Prevention utilizes the KIV curriculum with high school students with a variety of different backgrounds.

Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) Coalition
The SPF Coalition is a coalition working to create environmental change and provide evidence-based prevention programs and interventions to residents of Hudson County.  The goal of the SPF Coalition is to reduce the harmful consequences of drug and alcohol consumption for individuals between the ages of 18 and 25.

Strengthening Families Program
This comprehensive, primary prevention program focuses on building and sustaining “healthy families.” Working in
collaboration with a number of community organizations, it combines prevention education with strategies for behavioral and community change. The program addresses risk factors that face youth and families throughout Hudson County.
