Hunterdon Prevention Resources (HPR) is a community-based non-profit that is dedicated to promoting healthy choices and preventing substance abuse and violence through education and counseling. We offer a continuum of evidence-based prevention services from fetal alcohol syndrome, in schools from kindergarten to high school, community and parenting programs, professional seminars and conferences, and a range of educational programs for the older adult population.
HPR is also a licensed outpatient treatment facility. Within this realm, the following services are offered: individual counseling in addictions, grief and loss, mental health, life transitions, and marital; Intoxicated Drivers Resource Center; anger management groups, and certified tobacco cessation. Also offered is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which has served county businesses and schools for over thirty years.
HPR works closely with disparate populations in the county as well, thus ensuring all residents of Hunterdon County have access to the services they need. The agency has significantly expanded its services to the Hispanic population, which is the largest minority group in the county, and now offers all services in Spanish.
Hunterdon Prevention Resources offers a range of services from science-based prevention education at the universal, selected and indicated levels. All prevention programs and services offered by HPR are evidence- or science-based and are overseen by a Certified Prevention Specialist.
Hunterdon Prevention Resources is governed by an independent, volunteer Board of Trustees who works in concert with the Executive Director and team of HPR staff to ensure that the agency follows its Strategic Plan, adheres to the Best Principals in non-profit management, and continually strives to meet the ever-changing needs in our county.
